David Young
David’s greatest friend and love is MaryLynn who is the mom of their daughters, Shannon (recently married to Aaron Kliebl) and Kelly. He lives in Nanaimo, BC and works as a teacher librarian in Parksville, BC0at Ballenas Secondary School – where he has taught for 28 years. He loves teaching History and Comparative Civilizations as well as accompanying the Ballenas Concert Choir.
David worships and “plays’ at Knox United Church as organist. He loves playing and making muisc with Ron and the choir at Knox. He also preaches (former minister) in churches needing pulpit supply, as schedule allows.
David enjoys listening to jazz, especially “St.” Oscar Peterson, Ellis Marsalis, Bill Evans, and Oliver Jones. He is also an avid book collector and reader – particularly in the areas of Greek language and literature, New Testament Studies and Biblical Theology.
Most mornings find David up at around 5:30 am already into the coffee and tuning into stations from around the world on his world band (aka shrtwave) radio receivers. Radio New Zealand hosts a great jazz program on Sunday mornings at 7 am PDT!
Most evenings find David, still well into the coffee, sitting in the solarium or on the patio enjoying a good book, a great game or the gifts of silence as and nature’s sounds as the sun slips into the sea.
