Love in Human Hearts Engendered
Music by Cyril Vincent Taylor (1907-1991)Words by Walter Farquharson
Tune Name: ABBOT'S LEIGH (8787 D)
Lyrics as Poetry
Love in human hearts engendered,
birth communities of grace —
love and justice intertwining,
claiming earth as sacred space.
Joy in all things round us dancing,
liven hearts and set us free,
let us live the great unfolding,
learn to walk, and hear, and see.
Peace beyond all human striving,
help us shed the curse of war,
leave behind the greed that drowns us —
empty search for more and more.
Grace that welcomes and sustains us,
grant that we may stand as one,
searchers on an honoured journey,
walk that we have just begun.
Myst’ry, Love and Joy, surround us,
do your work within our hearts.
Peace and Grace alive amongst us,
tune us well to sing our parts.
Many paths converge in Beauty —
Truth is never captive here.
Sisters, brothers, greet each other,
welcome Day that shall appear.
In the bleakest of our moments,
Hope and promise distant dream —
dawning breaks night’s hold upon us —
earth and heaven can be redeemed.
Love in human hearts engendered,
birth communities of grace —
love and justice intertwining,
claiming earth as sacred space.
