Why is it, God, we often ask
for less than you would give?
Why do we choose what leads to death
when you would have us live?
The begger at the temple gate
sought coin that could be spent.
He never dreamed his twisted leg
could somehow be unbent.
The two disciples heard his cry,
but had no coin of gold,
The pleading of the poor and lame
was story often told.
Why is it, God, we often ask
for less than you would give?
Why do we choose what leads to death
when you would have us live?
“In Jesus’ name, stand up and walk,”
was word bold Peter spoke.
He took his hand and raised him up,
to show he meant no joke!
The leaping man danced praise to God,
a resurrection sign
God’s life is what we all receive;
we’re strangely made divine.
By faith and life in Christ’s good name
we find ourselves made whole.

your earth renewed,
healed body mind and soul.
