Lyrics:

God has set us free for freedom,
for responding “yes” or “no”.
Freedom is our gift and calling,
God has let all people go.

REFRAIN:
Freedom is to people
what air is to the birds.
Freedom is belonging,
breaking bread, sharing words.

Ties of kindred are our bondage:
we the members, God the head.
We are made in God’s own image;
love has made us free indeed.

Refrain

God unties our hands for loving
man or woman, children, friends,
caring for the other’s wholeness;
love is kind and understands.

Refrain

Human hearts remain in turmoil
till they find their rest in God
who, as source of peace and freedom,
gives us Christ in flesh and blood.

Refrain

Give us freedom, God, to serve you,
show us where we ought to go,
never resting till all people’s
cups are full and overflow.
