Lyrics:
Rejoice in God who once upon a time
(before all time!) took love to shape a dream
and let it wake into the cosmic Word
that named the earth, with love as living theme.
Give thanks to Christ who calls us to be one
and shares our humanness to show us how
to keep the dream alive, the vision clear:
a world at peace, the human race at play.
Pray that the Holy Spirit will pro(!)ceed,
empowering us to see Christ’s mission through
and set the dream to song, enact the Word,
put flesh on hope, make God’s intent come true.
Let not, O God, the vision we have caught
fade as we rise, nor let it die away;
give us the faith with passion to pursue
that dream’s fulfilment in the light of day.

• Author Fred Kaan, from his book The Only Earth We Know (Stainer & Bell / Hope Publishing Co., 1999, page 102): “This is a revised version (written in 1998) of the hymn I was commissioned to write for the bicentenary of the London Missionary Society/Council for World Mission in 1995. The theme of the event was ‘Dare to Dream’.”
